Early Life and Education
Bello’s educational journey began in Yola and continued at Our Lady’s High School in Kaduna, where he graduated in 1971. He attended Barewa College in Zaria from 1971 to 1976, earning a Higher School Certificate. His academic pursuit led him to Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria, where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in business administration in 1980 and later returned for a master’s degree in the same field in 1985.
Banking and Corporate Career
Bello’s career in the banking sector commenced in 1984 at Icon Limited, a subsidiary of Barings Bank and Morgan Guaranty Trust. His training at J.P Morgan & Co. in commercial banking and risk management paved the way for his rise to head of credit and marketing. His over twenty years in the corporate sector includes significant roles such as Director of Habib Bank Plc and various other companies. He was General Manager of the Bakabure Industrial Complex in Yola in 1992 and served on the Technical Committee on Privatization (TPC) and as a member of the Adamawa State Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture.
Public Service
In 2006, Bello was appointed by President Olusegun Obasanjo as Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, where he served until 2015. His appointment as Minister of Federal Capital Territory by President Muhammadu Buhari in May 2015 marked a significant milestone in his public service career.

In recognition of his services, Bello was honored with the Nigerian national award of Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) in October 2022, conferred on him by President Muhammadu Buhari.
