Hyacinth Alia’s Children

I do not mean to shock or hint at scandal but there are presently a group of scholars who deserve the epithet “Fr. Alia’s Kids.” Rightly, because Fr. Alia’ is the executive governor of Benue State, most every kid should rightly be called his own. After all, the designation “Father” has a broad interpretation from an ecclesiastical point-of-view. Well, the “firstborns” I have in mind are those youngsters who are scheduled for the next round of induction as medical doctors from the Benue State University (BSU). This bunch has endured the ultimate test in walking the course to be doctors. These fellows have had their patience tested whilst they showed resolve by keeping their sanity. Soon, dawn cometh. They are confident and utterly gung-ho. Thus, I wish our good Fr. Alia take pride in them and smoothen their pathway during this last lap. Will they “japa?” If they do they must make commitments to target and build plush and private hospitals at Benue State. Unless the good Fr. Alia has a grand plan to transform the BSUTH into something like the best in Nigeria and align this teaching hospitals with the specialised services that Catholic hospitals offer all over Benue State and Nigeria.
