NDLEA seizes 1.2 million bottles of codeine worth N9.8b in Rivers

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted a major shipment of codeine, worth over N9.8 billion, at the Onne Ports in Rivers State. The seizure, which occurred on Thursday, July 18, 2024, involves seven containers carrying a total of 1,229,400 bottles of the opioid. This recent interception follows a significant bust by the NDLEA three weeks ago, where 6,125 cartons of codeine syrup, containing 1,050,000 bottles valued at over N7.35 billion, were seized at the Port Harcourt Ports complex.
