Rivers: Pro-Fubara Assembly confirms one commissioner

The Rivers State House Assembly led by Victor Oko-Jumbo has confirmed Emmanuel Oniengiye Frank-Fubara as a commissioner nominee. The confirmation follows a request from Governor Siminalayi Fubara to the Assembly to screen and ratify the nominee. At resumption plenary on Monday, the Speaker read the correspondence on the floor of the house, paving the way for Frank-Fubara’s confirmation while the nominee’s credentials and qualifications were scrutinized by the Assembly, which ultimately approved his appointment. During his screening by the lawmakers, the Commissioner nominee confidently stated that his extensive experience serving on various committees in the state has equipped him to excel in any portfolio assigned to him. He pledged to deliver his duties with utmost dedication and commitment, promising “hundred percent serviceable” performance. However, lawmakers hailed Fubara’s credentials, with Leader of the House, Sokari Goodboy Sokari urging swift confirmation, citing the nominee’s proven integrity. The Deputy Speaker, Timothy Orubienimigha, echoed the sentiment, praising Fubara’s impeccable character and expressing confidence in his ability to serve the state with distinction. The Speaker, at the end of the debate, confirmed the nominee after a voice vote from members who unanimously voted in favour of the nominee. The lawmakers’ endorsements confirmed the commissioner’s appointment while the house adjourned till Thursday.
