Basketball team lands in Germany, IWF lists two weightlifters for Games The Federal Ministry of Sports Development will on Monday hand over the country’s contingent to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games to the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), an official of the ministry has disclosed. googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display(“div-gpt-ad-1719572001129-0”); });   The handover ceremony to the NOC, which is traditionally the custodian of the country’s representatives to the Games, is the final act by the ministry before the delegation departs for the Games.   According to the source, the ceremony in Abuja will feature officials of the sports federations participating in the Games and the home-based athletes who entered the competition.   “After the ceremony, the athletes will fly to Germany to continue their preparation at the camp secured by the ministry for the country’s final preparations for the Games.   “Already, the women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, are already in Germany, while the Super Falcons, who are in Spain to participate in a pre-Games championship, will move to the camp immediately after the competition,” she said.   Meanwhile, the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF), has confirmed two Nigerian lifters for the Games. The duo of Folashade Lawal (59kg) and Joy Ogbonne Eze (71kg) will be flying the country’s flag in the competition based on their final Olympics qualification rankings, a statement from the IWF said.   While Folashade Lawal is currently ranked eighth, Joy Ogbonne Eze is ranked ninth in the women’s 71kg category.     “We are very happy and excited to present the list of excellent athletes for the Olympic Games in Paris.
